UK Movie Releases - April 2019

April is a super month, we've got Shazam, Hellboy and of course Endgame to keep us busy. But that's just three of fourteen movies on my radar, which ones are you looking forward to?

5th April 2019

Missing Link - Starring Zach Galifianakis, Hugh Jackman and Zoe Saldana. Mr Link enlists the help of an explorer to help him find his long lost relatives. An amusing looking animation with lots of big names in it.

Pet Sematary - Starring Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz and John Lithgow. The Creed family discover that the eerie pet cemetery isn't all it seems. I'm torn, I've never had much luck with Stephen King but I really want to see that demonic cat.

★ Shazam! - Starring Zachary Levi and Mark Strong. For Billy Batson heroism is as simple as shouting "Shazam". Let's face it, this isn't going to be the most serious DC film we've ever seen but it's likely to be the most amusing.

The Sisters Brothers - Starring John C. Reilly, Joaquin Phoenix, Riz Ahmed and Jake Gyllenhaal. In 1850s Oregon, a gold prospector is chased by the infamous duo of assassins, the Sisters brothers. This collection of actors has me very confused about this film.

8th April 2019

Wonder Park - A magnificent amusement park from the creative mind of June comes to life. This looks like another fun little animation.

11th April 2019

Hellboy - Starring Milla Jovovich, David Harbour and Ian McShane. Hellboy battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge. *confused and quizzical look* You know when you stop and wonder why they do something? Yeah, that thing.

12th April 2019

Five Feet Apart - Starring Haley Lu Richardson, Cole Sprouse and Claire Forlani. A pair of teenagers with life-threatening illnesses meet in hospital and fall in love. Sounds like another bleak but uplifting teen drama!

Little - Starring Regina Hall, Justin Hartly, Issa Rae and Marsai Martin. A woman transforms into her younger self. Think a modern take on Big but in reverse. I've started seeing the trailer at the cinema and it looks amusing, as well as potentially awkward.

Mid90s - Starring Sunny Suljic, Katherine Waterson and Lucas Hedges. Follow the life of 13-year-old Stevie as he navigates a troubled home life and a group of new friends. I can't say that anything about this one is gripping me.

19th April 2019

Dragged Across Concrete - Starring Mel Gibson, Jennifer Carpenter and Vince Vaughn. Two overzealous cops get suspended from the force and must delve into the criminal world to get their just due. This month is trying to test us with these actor combinations!

★ Greta - Starring ChloĆ« Grace Moretz, Isabelle Huppert and Zawe Ashton. A young woman befriends a lonely widow who's harbouring a dark and deadly agenda towards her. I had not heard anything about this film until I saw the trailer, it looks intriguing.

25th April 2019

★ Avengers: Endgame - Starring all those people from the other films... including those losers who could have defeated Thanos if they hadn't been dicking around.

I'm not going to bother with the trailer for this one...

26th April 2019

★ Bel Canto - Starring Julianne Moore and Ken Watanabe. A world-renowned opera singer becomes trapped in a hostage situation when she's invited to perform for a wealthy industrialist in South America. I am very excited about this one. I read the book years ago and it was wonderful, so to spot this as an upcoming film months back was panic inducingly great.

Eighth Grade - Starring Elsie Fisher and Josh Hamilton. An introverted teen tries to survive her last week of eighth grade before leaving for high school. Another teen movie to round out the month.

Happy watching!
