What to watch in April 2020

Drip, drip, drop
Disney's Bambi, April Showers.
Little April shower
Beating a tune
As you fall all around

Drip, drip, drop
Little April shower
What can compare
To your beautiful sound
Beautiful sound
Beautiful sound
Drip, drop, drip, drop.

Now would be the time I usually drop this blog post telling you what amazing things to keep your eyes open for... obviously that's a little difficult as we make our best efforts at stopping the spread of COVID-19, but that doesn't mean that there aren't good things to look forward to.

Many outlets like Amazon Prime and Google Play are now making recent cinema releases available as "Home Premieres", if you missed out on The Invisible Man, The Hunt and Emma. you can pick those up for £15.99 to rent at home. Bloodshot is currently listed on both services as coming on March 27th from £9.99, but it doesn't specifically say if that's rental or purchase. Trolls World Tour will also be available on-demand from April 10th which should bring us some much needed perky feelings in a couple of weeks.

Netflix have also got lots of new things coming to their service from now through April, including:

47 Meters Down: Uncaged
The Adventures of Tintin
American Beauty
Blades of Glory
The Cold Light Of Day
Goon
Howl's Moving Castle
I, Tonya
Ponyo
Money Heist Part 4
Ozark Season 3
Pokemon the Series: Sun and Moon Season 3

And those are just some of the ones at the beginning of the month.

The UK also has Disney+ creeping ever closer and I'm sure many of us will be having nostalgic trips through our childhoods as we binge watch things like Ducktales, Kim Possible, those classic movies like Bambi, and the many Marvel series that we'll be getting on our telly boxes. I imagine I'll be spamming Twitter with Disney content, I apologise in advance.

Look out for free trial offers from other services, I just picked up 3 months free from MUBI, it's more on the niche side of films, but it brings you a handpicked film to watch for free every day with a 30 day back catalogue.

Remember that YouTubers are also still out there doing their thing and now is a great time to support them. There are so many great people on there and I can't list them all but here are a couple of the people whose videos I try to watch.

Ashleigh, The Movie Oracle, she has so much knowledge and I love all the background she can give you on films.

What's On The Tape?, lots of great nostalgia with Pete.

Declan Mckinney, some of Declan's reactions genuinely have me laughing out loud.

Also remember to reach out to people over the coming weeks, you can share some recommendations with them, tell them how much you love what they're doing, or, you know... just generally be a great human being.

I've left these trailers below, all are ones I was looking forward to in April, we'll get them at some point so don't forget about them.

★ VFW - Starring Stephen Lang, William Sadler and Fred Williamson. A group of war veterans must defend their local VFW post and an innocent teen against a deranged drug dealer and his relentless army of punk mutants.

★ The New Mutants - Starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Maisie Williams, Alice Braga, etc. Five young mutants, just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will, fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.

★ Trolls World Tour - Starring Anna Kendrick, Justin Timberlake, et al. Poppy and Branch discover that they are but one of six different Troll tribes scattered over six different lands, each devoted to a different form of music. Queen Barb, aided by her father King Thrash, wants to destroy all other kinds of music to let rock reign supreme. With the fate of the world at stake, Poppy and Branch set out to visit all the other lands to unify the Trolls in harmony against Barb, who's looking to upstage them all.

★ Promising Young Woman - Starring Carey Mulligan, Bo Burnham and Laverne Cox. A young woman, traumatized by a tragic event in her past, seeks out vengeance against those who cross her path.

Happy watching!
